What is a drey?

Updated: Apr 13

I thought I'd kick off the blog by explaining what a drey is, in case you were wondering why I'd chosen such a random word for this section of the website!

You know those big scruffy looking bird's nests you see in late winter/early spring?

Yeah, those aren't bird's nests, they're squirrel nests! Also known as dreys, squirrels build them much the same as birds do to provide a nice comfy space to raise their babies in and stop them from just falling out of the trees.

So a drey is basically a squirrel's home which is why I chose the name. Think of this space as our home where we can all gather and get to know each other. I'll be posting in the blog every week as well as sharing the YouTube videos here too and there will eventually be a members login so you guys can all comment and talk amongst yourselves and build the Sustainable Squirrel community.
